Great Britain’s New Atomic Age

Welcome to AI Collision 💥,

In today’s collision between AI and our world:

  • The GB Atomic Age
  • AI creates a $330 million memecoin
  • A LONG (but good) read on AI for prosperity

If that’s enough to get the atoms splitting, read on…

AI Collision 💥

I first posted this on 1 October. We sent it out in a special broadcast to readers around this time in 2023. A year on, I’m going to post it again:

Where the vast majority of reactors currently in existence are built from scratch. This reactor is mass produced, stamped out on a production line. That means not only is this reactor 1/50th of the cost of a legacy reactor. It takes 1/5th of the time to manufacture. And just 72 hours to construct. As a result, this new type of nuclear reactor is capable of powering,

Hospitals…

Universities…

Data centres…

Business parks…

Industrial estates.

And it can also be retrofitted inside every one of the UK’s 175 shuttered coal plants. Thereby giving them the ability to power every town and city in the UK.

When we covered all this a couple weeks ago in our AI Collision post, “How to make nuclear from British coal“, we weren’t being flippant about it.

We were straight shooting that it will be thanks to old, decommissioned British coal plants that a nuclear renaissance will befall Great Britain.

In fact, I am certain that it will spark the beginning of Britain’s Atomic Age.

If you want to see my feature-length, deep dive into this, on why nuclear is the most important energy story this century for investors in the UK, then you need to head right here to see what I believe is coming and the best stocks to buy right now to ensure you’re ahead of the curve on this.

Because make no mistake, what we’ve said is coming… IS COMING.

And here’s even more proof.

This week, US nuclear start-up Last Energy said it was going to be spending £300 million to build a micro nuclear project in Bridgend, Wales.

The investment and capital will be fully funded by the company, and no public funds will be used to get it off the ground.

The company also expects it to be generating energy in 2027 for local industrial customers.

But here’s the thing, and why this is so important for Great Britain and why I think it’s one of the most important developments in British energy, ever…

This will be built on an old coal plant site.

These micro reactors, small-modular reactors (SMRs), are absolutely going to become a commercial reality. We are already on the cusp of cracking the engineering and design to get them into working service, suppling emissions free energy to communities, industry and… the surging demand from AI data centres.

The announcement from Last Energy was somewhat overshadowed and has gone a bit under the radar in terms of nuclear news because of what Google announced this week too.

As per Google’s announcement,

Today, we’re building on these efforts by signing the world’s first corporate agreement to purchase nuclear energy from multiple small modular reactors (SMRs) to be developed by Kairos Power.

Google went on to note this agreement was important because,

The grid needs new electricity sources to support AI technologies that are powering major scientific advances, improving services for businesses and customers, and driving national competitiveness and economic growth. This agreement helps accelerate a new technology to meet energy needs cleanly and reliably, and unlock the full potential of AI for everyone.

You get that?

This agreement is because of AI. The power is needed because of AI. It is AI that is driving rapid change in the entire energy mix and the direction of energy markets forever.

Nuclear and AI go hand in hand. Google, Amazon and Microsoft are all pumping billions into AI data centres and, subsequently, AI energy sources (nuclear). Now you’ve other companies firing up old disused coal plants, for nuclear sites to power the industry that make Great Britain function.

This is something that you will see more of. It won’t and doesn’t need to be government led. It will come from the giants of tech, well-funded companies like Last Energy and the world’s growing demand for nuclear energy. What’s happening right now is the earliest stage of a New Atomic Age for Great Britain, and in my view this forms the most exciting energy investment play we’ve ever seen.

AI gone wild 🤪

This is the most batsh*t crazy thing I’ve maybe ever heard about AI. It’s WILD. And yep, there’s some expletives there. But if you’re offended by those, well maybe this is a realm that you should stay well clear of…

But…

If you are fascinated by AI, and by the crypto markets, check this out.

I came across a post on X.com that dives into the most bizarre and mind-blowing AI story maybe ever, showing how AI has created its own memecoin cult and a multi-million-dollar crypto token. It’s hard to believe… so just read this:

This post comes from AI Notkilleveryoneism Memes via X.com.

There’s some further back story in its comments too. Nonetheless, it’s worth noting the GOAT crypto, Goatseus Maximumus, is now worth $332 million (at the time of writing) you can see for yourself at the GOAT trading info page on Coingecko here.

I’m not sure we’ve had as wild an AI story in the entire time I’ve been publishing AI Collision. I’m definitely going to keep an eye on how this unfolds.

What’s also worth noting is that as bonkers as this may be, anyone can trade it, if you know how. Also, the memecoin market is rife with winners. We’re not saying you should dive into that; it’s MEGA high risk and you need to know how to navigate it.

That said, I know how, and finally after 12 months of not being allowed to provide crypto recommendations, we’re now firing things back up at Southbank Investment Research. The only thing is that for the same reason we were effectively stopped from writing to you about crypto products, you now need to pass a test to qualify so we can send you our latest crypto information. It’s not our call to make you do that, that’s the rules the regulators require of us. If you are interested in this market and want to know more about crypto from us, you can – you just have to head here, pass the test, and then get the lowdown on what’s coming.

  • Are you ready for a LONG read of the potential that AI could have on the world? If so, strap in. Or just copy the text, upload it to NotebookLM and get quick summaries (and a podcast). But check out this prose on AI here.
  • Not to be outdone by Microsoft and then Google going all in on nuclear, Amazon wanted to steal a little thunder and get those headlines. It has already kicked off its nuclear plans as we’ve spoken about before, but it’s really going deep on this stuff and it’s sending the market into a frenzy.
  • Here’s a good news AI story. AI is helping us to track and keep sea turtles safe and prosperous… Yep, I don’t think anyone would be against the use of AI for this sort of thing.

Artificial Polltelligence 🗳️

I love the idea of AI creating a memecoin and it actually being worth something. I know people will think that’s stupid, but if you go all the way back to 2013 when Billy Markus and Jackson Palmer launched Dogecoin (as a joke) to see it now worth about $19 billion… I mean, AI doing something similar is just an evolution of the idea and the world, and everything.

So, I kind of love it. But I’m curious too, what do you think? Is this up your alley too, or do you think anything to do with any crypto is just degenerate gambling?

Have your say.

Is it not possible to forward this to Ed Milliband & his advisors?Sadly he seems to be missing the Plot.

Berdou

Really with Ed Milliband in charge who has difficulty managing a bacon sandwich

If Last Energy/Kairos Power can have an SMR UP AND RUNNING FOR $ 3,000,000 I wonder
if Rolls Royce can do the same?
I think they will shift quite a few at that price.

Scott

It won’t be an SMR it is a micro reactor.

Mr Ian D Dobson

This article mentions the term “fission”. Really! Truly! How?

Scott

Somehow, Sam, I don’t think Labour will give us the nuclear renaissance we actually need. Private companies that fund the entire project themselves may have better luck but if Labour are going to get involved you will be highly disappointed in the results. Please, all just remember here that Labour HATES nuclear. Last time in power they refused to build any and, this is the best part, sold off British Energy (the UK’s largest electricity producer which just happened to be the UK’s nuclear reactor fleet) to the French (EDF). This time they haven’t actually committed to building any either. The SMR project come from the last Govt (who should have just got on with it!). There isn’t one nuclear reactor in the UK that was planned, approved, commissioned or built by a Labour Govt. Not. One.

Forget UK … look at Centrus Energy in the US… $40 to $100 in a month !?!?!

Hi Sam, Very disappointed we had to sell OKLO on your advice – now look where it has gone. Any updated advice on this stock ? Regards, Brian

I think as with all AI, that this is just innovation and the progression of that. I also think as this Memecoin was created by AI that it should be completely unbiased and unemotional, that is only if there has not been any human input. Long may AI and crypto keep progressing.
